What the results mean

Predictive Not Determinative

There is NO ApoE Status that means you will definitely develop Alzheimer's Disease. Like many other things, ApoE Status is a risk-factor. If you think knowing your status will cause more anxiety than it is worth, we would not recommend testing.

Don't go it alone

Get counseling when you get your results

All our genetic testing kits come with a consultation with one of our specially-trained medical professionals. We urge you to use that consultation and not try to interpret your results on your own.

GINA Prohibits Most Discrimination Based on Genetics

GINA, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, prohibits two broad categories of discrimination based on genetics.

First, GINA prohibits health insurers from discriminating based on the genetics of enrollees.

Second, GINA prohibits employers from using genetic information in employment decisions.

GINA does not apply to certain other types of insurance such as life insurance, long-term care insurance, and disability insurance.
